The annual tuition rate at St. John's University, exclusive of housing, is currently $26,200 per academic year for undergraduates, $30,200 for pharmacy majors (Pharm.D), and $38,400 for law school students http://www.stjohns.edu/services/bursar/tuition.stj; In 1994, St. John's University tuition was $9,400 without housing, representing only a third of the current rate or a 300% and sometimes more increase.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?p=%22st.+john%27s+university%22+tuition+1993+1994+1995+9%2C400+&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8&u=www.stjohns.edu/media/3/69476b7fd6ad4417b470414446b42d5d.pdf&w=%22st+john%27s+university%22+tuition+1993+1994+1995+9+400&d=BJBw6BIeOgHD&icp=1&.intl=us |title=Fall 2004 Fact Book, Volume 1, v.1.1 |publisher=St. John's University }}</ref>.
Inflation has been at most 3% per year but tuition increases have been around 10% per year.  So in all honesty how can you justify the almost tripling of tuition in about 12 years.    In the same time tuition at the St. John's University law school has "only doubled."

St. John's University was advertised in 1998 as the least expensive private university in New York [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBuN2acfRxA&feature=related] However, over the same period of time national private school tuition rates increased at a similar but lesser rate, rising from $9,812 to $22,218 from 1992-2006.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/press/cost06/trends_college_pricing_06.pdf |format=PDF |title=Trends in College Pricing 2006 |publisher=College Board |author=Sandy Baum and Kathleen Payea }}</ref>  Although in a similiar situation, New York City school, [[New York University]] had a tuition rate of 22,000 for 1997 [http://www.highered.nysed.gov/oris/counts/ic98finrep.pdf] and by 2008 had a tuition of $35,000 [http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/usnews/edu/college/directory/brief/drglance_2785_brief.php]. This figured a rate of a 50% increase in a 10 year time period.Current cost of attendence is about $41,000.

Fall 2003 Tuition $19,600.00

Fall 2002 Tuition $17,850.00

One St. John's student has even resorted to using Ebay as a method of financing his education.

With tuition rates being so high amongst other factors, St. John's has a poor graduation rate of around 66% within 6 years.

4 Years 39.6%
5 Years 55.9%
6 Years 66.0%
